Thelma Daley

Thelma Daley was born in Shanghai in 1928, where she spent many of her early years. Her parents moved to Canley Vale and had a shop in Delamere St.

In Delamere Street and the number was number 21. And it was built by Hudsons I believe that is correct and it was fibro, three bedrooms, dining room, kitchen, lounge naturally the shop in the front and the garage. And they even had the block of land behind it, which runs into what they call Stuart Street or, it used to be known as Cardwell Street. And they built that shop and home and it was a mixed business, groceries and milk and tobacco all that sort of thing mainly for the people in the area. Well in other words, a convenience store. And it saved a lot of people.
