Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy was born in 1932 and is now a resident of Cabramatta. He left school at age 14 and 8 months to begin his working life.

Tom Hardy: Well we had the bag humpy. Well of course everyone had bag humpies cause Mt Pritchard as you know was called Tin Town, or Bag Town because everyone had bag humpies. I can just vaguely remember the (.. unclear ..) bag humpies. And tin, there was only tin sheds and little pieces thrown together in those days. No one had nothing you see in those days out there.

Shirley McLeod: Well it was depression time.

Tom Hardy: Thatís right. Pop was unemployed for eight years and he worked for the relief work, well a lot did work for the relief work.
