Jack McBurney Jack McBurney is a well known resident and identity of the Fairfield area. He recalls some of his memories of growing up in the district and the changes that have occured.

So in the 1920s we got a lot of British. But we also got in the 1920s and I think the 1930s and possibly I might say before the 1920s, Italian and Yugoslav immigrates who came to Bonnyrigg and… Mount Pritchard and Hoxton Park back of Liverpool, Wetherill Park back of Fairfield and Maltese who came to Greystanes the other side of Prospect Hill. And across that belt — what was rural land — we had these wonderful market gardeners, brilliant market gardeners Italians, Yugoslavs, Maltese.
