Robert Bartholomew

Robert Bartholomew was born in Canley Vale in 1947 and has spent most of his life in the Fairfield area. He has witnessed the growth of the area and the influx of new Australian citizens into the City.

Yes, well I had two older brothers and I will admit, mum used to go top of the line with the old Staminarc school uniforms. And one brother would wear them, he'd grow out and it would be handed down to the next brother, he'd grow out of them. And I'd copped ‘em, and they had patches all over the backside of them and patches at the front and quite often when I was going to primary-school they used to call me patches. I got into a couple of fights over that.
