Betty Jury

Betty Jury has spent most of her life living in the Fairfield area. As a child there were Chinese market gardens on both sides of her family's property.

... they used to go to market, take their stuff to market. And the other Chinese garden was right up the top of the street which meant the one lot of Chinese had to pass our place to get to their place. And we had an old gate and it had two great big poles and as they went by they always left an apple or a piece of fruit for Albert and I on top of these poles. We used to look forward to that.
