Jack McBurney

Jack McBurney is a well known resident and identity of the Fairfield area. He recalls some of his memories of growing up in the district and the changes that have occured.

I was born January 1926 in, actually, in the bedroom above my father’s store at Cabramatta opposite the railway station. And as I understand it, I was delivered by a midwife, Nurse Croslind who was the midwife for the town and delivered both of my sisters who preceeded me. And… because at that time there was no doctor in the town of Cabramatta and our closest doctors were either Liverpool or Fairfield and our doctor was Doctor Pirie at Liverpool.
