Sargon Hallaby was born in Kirkuk, Iraq in 1934. His first job was with the British Air Force before being hired as an apprentice with the Basra Petroleum Company in 1952.

Sargon Hallaby: Voluntary yeah. I with a few friends, put the sound system. All the ladies, they come and put the curtains, they sewed them and you know, and a lot of people donated those chairs and stools and everything you know. Everybody was very keen to have a church.
