Arthur Packer

Arthur Packer and his parents were originally from England. They migrated to Australia in 1913 when Arthur was only 3 months old. He grew up in Fairfiled and also worked at "Cockies" biscuit factory.

Oh, the school must have had about 150 pupils and I mean in those days there was only a state school and there was no division, you know. And three teachers, sometimes four to help out with the younger ones, and they carried on to (when) they went to high school — if they did, like the high school would be over Parramatta... at those times. It then changed to Granville Technical School later on. My elder brothers they went to Parramatta.
