Arthur Packer

Arthur Packer and his parents were originally from England. They migrated to Australia in 1913 when Arthur was only 3 months old. He grew up in Fairfiled and also worked at "Cockies" biscuit factory.

But, the schools in what they played wasn’t cricket they called it Rounders. That was something like baseball and the girls later on they played Vigoro. That’s a ladies form of cricket. It’s gone out now. There used to be Vigoro teams all over the state you know. They had a bat something like a tennis racquet and a softer ball.
