Sargon Hallaby

Sargon Hallaby was born in Kirkuk, Iraq in 1934. His first job was with the British Air Force before being  hired as an apprentice with the Basra Petroleum Company in 1952.

We’re not allowed to leave the country, we can’t have a passport. We got the passport but we get no permission. So anyway we wait until, a while, I think it was ’68, it could be happening then, then I went to Kuwait. I got the military to transfer my papers to Kuwait. You can’t do it in Iraq, cause you’d be in trouble.
