Nguyen Tien Manh: ... sometime you just pay some deposit and you wait for them to sort of to make the next move.

Diane Giese: So you never even got onto a boat?

Nguyen Tien Manh: No. And you know, there a couple of time I got onto a boat, nothing happened. And, you know, I did various scenario, but you know, eventually I got onto a good one with my fiancee and we left.

Diane Giese: Just you and her? And who were the 30 other people on the boat?

Nguyen Tien Manh: People…

Diane Giese: Anybody. You didn’t know any of them?

Nguyen Tien Manh: No, I happened to meet a friend over there, up there you know. A dentist. He’s now living in Canada.

Diane Giese: So where did you leave from?

Nguyen Tien Manh: Down south. Down south.

Diane Giese: So you had to go over (..unclear..)…?

Nguyen Tien Manh: Oh yes, we had to go by bus, by bus, with a false identity. I had to make myself or you pay money. You buy yourself a new identity.
